What does Azro Engineering do?
Azro Engineering is a global engineering resource based in Sri Lanka, providing offshore engineering design, analysis and documentation. We deliver 3D modelling and design, production drawings, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), design for manufacture support and technical documentation to engineering companies and OEMs in the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and Australia. We work as an extension of an existing engineering team rather than as an independent design house.
How does offshore mechanical design compare in cost to hiring in-house?
An in-house design engineer carries salary, employer contributions, pension, recruitment cost, a CAD and simulation licence, a workstation and desk space, and that cost continues whether the drawing queue is full or empty. Contracted offshore capacity converts that fixed cost into a variable one you switch on and off. The saving depends on your market and the seniority you are replacing, so we quote against your actual scope rather than publishing a headline rate.
How do you protect our intellectual property and drawings?
A mutual non-disclosure agreement is signed before any file is transferred. Project data is held in an access-controlled repository and moved over encrypted channels only, never through personal devices or consumer file-sharing accounts. Work is delivered by our own employed engineers with no subcontracting, engineers are not assigned to competing projects concurrently, and data is deleted on your instruction at project close with written confirmation.
Who owns the CAD files and IP you produce?
You do. All intellectual property in work produced for you is assigned to you on delivery, and this is written into the engagement contract rather than left implied. You receive native CAD files as well as neutral formats, so you are never dependent on us to continue the work.
What CAD and analysis software do you work in?
Our primary platform is SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assemblies, weldments, sheet metal and drafting, with SolidWorks Simulation for finite element analysis. AutoCAD is used for 2D drafting and legacy drawing conversion, and Revit for civil and structural modelling. We issue in native format plus STEP, IGES, DXF and PDF as required. If your team works in a platform we do not currently run, tell us at enquiry stage and we will license it.
What are your working hours relative to the UK, Europe and North America?
We operate on Sri Lanka Standard Time, GMT +5:30. Our working day begins while the United Kingdom is still overnight, so work issued at your close of business is typically progressed before your next morning. For North American clients the offset is larger and the overnight turnaround is more pronounced. For Australian and New Zealand clients there is direct overlap through your afternoon. We hold scheduled calls inside your business hours regardless of location.
How quickly can you start?
Typically, we can commence within 6 weeks once the contract has been finalised, all requirements have been clearly defined, and we have a thorough understanding of the technical and personal qualities you are looking for. This allows us to recruit and onboard the best-fit resources for your team. For non-contract or smaller engagements, we can typically begin within a few weeks.
What kind of FEA can you carry out?
Linear and non-linear static stress analysis, fatigue and life assessment, buckling, modal and thermal studies. Every analysis is issued with stated assumptions, a documented load case matrix, boundary conditions, evidence of mesh convergence and a written engineering conclusion. We do not issue a stress plot without an interpretation of what it means for your design.
What is the minimum engagement?
Our standard engagement is a dedicated engineer allocated to your team monthly, contracted on a rolling basis with thirty days notice on either side. We also take work on a project basis and on a seasonal basis where the workload arrives in bursts, and a single drawing or a single analysis is a valid way to start. Tell us the volume and the timing and we will recommend the shape that fits.
